Wayfinding Mentorship Certification program: July 2022

Registration is open for Level I and Level II sessions of One Stone’s Wayfinding Mentorship Certification Program. These hybrid courses are designed for teachers, advisors, student leaders, community leaders, and career and professional development program leaders interested in implementing Living in Beta in their school or organization.

Living in Beta is a program that empowers students to explore their passions, discover their purpose, and develop the tools to live and learn with intention. Inspired by the technical term “beta testing,” used to describe the process of improving a product through continuous iteration, Living in Beta inspires students to embrace opportunities to test new ideas, learn from experience, and find ownership and meaning in their learning.

Here’s what participants are saying:

This program completely reframed my idea of ‘student-driven learning,’ and reignited a fire in me. I feel I have a ton of tangible strategies to use right away in implementing this work and pushing it forward at my school.
This Wayfinding Mentorship Program stands out as the best professional development series I have ever experienced. It has challenged me to examine myself as an individual, as a mentor, and as a leader. The design, pace, materials, cohort, and high expectations for interaction with the material and each other made it very enriching. It feels like the timing was also perfect for me, as I was kind of wandering around in the dark trying to figure out some of the very things that the training aimed to clarify, highlight, and nurture. This will be with me for a long time.
The Wayfinding Mentorship Program was an incredibly beneficial program. Through the classes and modules I’m equipped with the knowledge to lead programming that I’ve been dreaming of… I felt like I found my tribe as it relates to student education.

Join the Idea51 team for our spring term Wayfinding Mentorship Program and bring Living in Beta to your school.

The Level I Mentorship program prepares you to mentor the first stage of the Living in Beta program, Exploration. Through exploration, students identify their passions, find ways to connect them to relevant learning and growth opportunities, and test them through real-world experiences. To learn more, refer to our Wayfinding Mentorship Level I Course Outline.

The Level II Mentorship program prepares you to mentor their students through the Discovery and Purpose stages of Living in Beta, where students identify their values and better understand their Why, empowering them to live and learn with intention. Level I Mentorship certification is a prerequisite for participating in the Level II program. To learn more, refer to our  Wayfinding Mentorship Level II Course Outline.

In each four-week session, you will engage in a hybrid workshop series — a combination of live, virtual discussions and online learning modules (incorporating readings, videos, and engaging activities) — designed to build your skills as a wayfinding mentor.

Upon completion of each program, you will receive a curriculum playbook for implementation of the corresponding Living in Beta activities.

Wayfinding Mentor Certification: Level I and Level II Wayfinding Mentorship Certificates will be awarded to participants who engage in each of the live, virtual discussions and complete all of the program’s on-line learning modules. Certified mentors will be awarded access to corresponding Living in Beta playbooks.

Cost: The Wayfinding Mentorship Certificate Programs cost $600 per participant per program. Costs will be discounted by 10% for each additional participant from the same organization for the same session. Please email Chad Carlson, Director of Research and Design, to discuss financial assistance and/or alternate cost plans.

Registration is on a first come, first served basis.
